This tour takes us over the German border into Bavaria passing by the Salt mines. Our first stop is up in the area of Obersalzberg, which was once used as a base of the Third Reich, the area where Hitler, Goering and Bormann once had property.

From Obersalzberg we change to a special bus for the amazing journey up the 6.5 km (4 miles) long road to the Eagles Nest (Kehlstein House). The journey is an amazing adventure and once you arrive in the upper car park a 124 m (406 ft) long tunnel leads you into the mountain. Once inside the mountain the lift takes you within less than a minute directly up into the Eagles Nest building.

You will have free time to explore the old conference room, dining area and small tea room and terraces with your guide explaining all the history relating to this interesting area.

" Eagle’s Nest is a must visit "

Go on this tour if you want to learn about history and to see the wonderful views of the Alps from the top. The guide was excellent and knowledgeable, and I highly recommend this trip.
" Interesting "
4 out of 5 stars
The tour was interesting, but do some research first as there’s not much information at the the nest. Yes basically it’s a restaurant on a mountain BUT I couldn’t help feeling strange knowing I was standing where the high ranking Nazis had stood. The only criticism I had is that the tour was supposed to start at 8.30 and return at 12.30 but we didn’t leave until 9.55 and returned at 13.50, although this didn’t matter to us, it might if you had other plans for the afternoon.

You expect it, but then you are still in awe. Beautiful view, a piece of German history and excellent service from the tour guide who (softly) bombards you with information. Hitler sure did know where to pick the perfect spot.

Peter, our guide, was very informative and looked after us well. He made the effort to speak to every one of us on the trip. We booked 3 tours with Panorama Tours. We highly recommend them

Experienced guide ‘thomas’. Very cheerful, experienced. Highly recommend this tour. But need a nice sunny day for the best view.
